CURE Launches Pro-Israel Campaign Targeting Black Voters in Michigan

The Center for Urban Renewal and Education is deploying billboards and signs in Michigan to encourage Black voters to support Israel during a tight Senate race.

The Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE), a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit, has launched a targeted advertising campaign in Michigan to encourage Black voters to support Israel and Jewish people. Led by director Star Parker, the initiative utilizes billboards and yard signs in cities with high Black populations, including Detroit, Flint, and Ypsilanti, featuring slogans such as "Blacks and Jews Standing Together" and "Self Defense is Not Genocide."

The campaign arrives during a contentious U.S. Senate race. Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed has struggled to maintain support among Jewish voters due to his rhetoric on Israel and has faced difficulties securing his base. In response, El-Sayed has held appearances with Barack Obama and Jim Clyburn to shore up support.

Republican candidate Mike Rogers has actively courted both Black and Jewish demographics, receiving a late endorsement from U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens and support from a super PAC. CURE seeks to leverage Black evangelical support for Israel to influence the election outcome, with Parker suggesting the endorsement has helped Rogers secure necessary support from Black voters.
