Vancouver Mayor-elect Pete Fry Endorses BC Green Leader Emily Lowan
Vancouver Mayor-elect Pete Fry joined BC Green Party leader Emily Lowan for door-knocking in Sidney to support her provincial election bid.
Vancouver Mayor-elect Pete Fry joined BC Green Party leader Emily Lowan on Tuesday to campaign and knock on doors in Sidney, British Columbia. Fry, who recently won a landslide victory to replace Mayor Ken Sim, endorsed Lowan as she seeks to hold the Saanich North and the Islands riding in the upcoming provincial election.
While Fry expressed support for Lowan's vision, he clarified that he is avoiding endorsements of provincial candidates from a City of Vancouver perspective to maintain working relationships with BC NDP incumbents. He also addressed his appearance at a Monday event with NDP Leader David Eby, stating his presence was to support a pro-Canada rally against Alberta separatism rather than to endorse the NDP.
Lowan expressed dissatisfaction with a 2025 agreement between the NDP and Greens, claiming the New Democrats failed to meet two-thirds of their commitments. Despite this, she remains open to future cooperation depending on the election results.
