Ubisoft Connect Outage Disables Assassin's Creed Offline Mode

Ubisoft faced backlash after a service outage rendered Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced unplayable for PC users, despite the game's advertised offline capabilities.

Ubisoft faced significant criticism from PC players after a service outage of Ubisoft Connect on Saturday, July 11, rendered Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced unplayable. Although the outage lasted approximately one hour, it disabled the game's offline mode for users who had already authenticated their copies, contradicting the official FAQ which states the main campaign is playable offline after the initial download.

The failure sparked backlash on Reddit and Steam forums, where users targeted the publisher's digital rights management implementation. Reports indicated that while legitimate purchasers were locked out, users of pirated versions of the game remained unaffected. Ubisoft has not officially responded to the complaints via social media or community forums.

The incident occurs following a successful launch for the title, which sold 2 million copies on its first day, though it previously drew criticism for expensive cosmetic microtransactions.
