Apple Plans OLED iPad mini Launch for October 2026

Apple will launch a redesigned OLED iPad mini in October before rolling out updated iPad Air, Pro, and entry-level models through 2027.

Apple is preparing a staggered refresh of its tablet lineup, beginning with the launch of a new iPad mini in October 2026. Codenamed J510, the compact tablet will feature an 8.4-inch LTPS OLED display and an A19 Pro chip. Despite the screen upgrade, the device will maintain a fixed 60 Hz refresh rate, omitting ProMotion technology. The launch follows a September window expected to feature the iPhone 18 Pro and a first-ever foldable iPhone Ultra.

Further updates are scheduled through 2027. A refreshed entry-level iPad is expected in the first quarter of 2027, utilizing an A19 processor to support Apple Intelligence. New iPad Air and iPad Pro models are anticipated for spring 2027. The Air may adopt lower-cost OLED panels from Samsung Electronics, while the Pro is expected to introduce vapor chamber cooling to enhance performance. Additionally, Apple plans to introduce redesigned Apple Pencils with replaceable batteries to comply with European Union regulations.

Software enhancements include a new Siri AI launching later this fall, which will integrate Gemini and Apple Foundation Models. However, some hardware delays are expected for the base-model iPad due to rising component costs and memory chip market tensions. These supply issues may also result in a price increase for the new iPad mini over its previous 689 euro starting price.
