Turkmenistan Strengthens Military and Diplomatic Ties with Azerbaijan and Belarus

The Government of Turkmenistan engaged in a series of strategic diplomatic and military meetings with Azerbaijan and Belarus on September 30, 2026, to strengthen regional partnerships.
In Baku, Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Defense Colonel Beymurat Soltanov led a military delegation to the 6th Azerbaijan International Defense Exhibition. Soltanov met with Colonel General Karim Valiyev, the Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, to discuss military cooperation. Valiyev emphasized Azerbaijan's commitment to strengthening ties with Turkic-speaking military institutions, while Soltanov highlighted the historical friendship between the two nations.
Simultaneously, Turkmenistan focused on diplomatic relations with Belarus. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Myahri Byashimova met with Belarusian Ambassador Stanislav Chepurny at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The officials discussed bilateral cooperation in cultural and humanitarian fields. They also coordinated preparations for upcoming events in the National Tourist Zone Avaza, which are being organized under Turkmenistan's current chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
