DeepSeek and Huawei Develop TileLang to Rival Nvidia CUDA

DeepSeek partnered with Huawei Technologies to develop programming tools for Huawei's Ascend chips in an effort to reduce reliance on the Nvidia ecosystem. The collaboration focuses on establishing an independent, self-controlled GPU software ecosystem by open-sourcing critical infrastructure for the Ascend platform, including communication and compute libraries.

Central to this initiative is the release of TileLang, a high-level programming language. DeepSeek claims TileLang offers a simpler programming model than Nvidia's CUDA, which simplifies code logic and increases development efficiency without sacrificing the hardware's full performance potential.
