Tencent Launches TenPayGo App for International Travelers in China

Tencent launched TenPayGo, a payment application designed to streamline financial transactions for international travelers visiting China. The rollout comes ahead of the APEC summit to facilitate easier spending for overseas visitors at tens of millions of merchants, including restaurants, shops, and tourist attractions.

The app integrates with the WeChat Pay network, allowing users to link seven international card networks, such as Visa and Mastercard, or one of approximately 60 overseas digital wallets. Among the early partners is the Singapore-based digital wallet provider Starryblu.

To reduce barriers for foreign users, TenPayGo allows registration via email. This change removes the previous requirement for a local Chinese phone number, which had historically complicated the onboarding process for non-residents.
