Bahrain Coordinates With Egypt and EU Against Iranian Aggression

Bahrain is seeking international support from Egypt and the European Union to counter Iranian attacks on Gulf states and threats to the Strait of Hormuz.

The government of Bahrain is coordinating a multi-national response to Iranian military actions following attacks on its territory and threats to maritime trade. On July 14, 2026, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in Manama to discuss regional security. During the meeting, President El Sisi condemned Iranian attacks on Bahraini territory as violations of state sovereignty and international law. Both leaders reaffirmed United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which demands an immediate end to Iranian attacks against Jordan and Gulf states, and emphasized the shared international responsibility to protect the Strait of Hormuz.

Following these talks, Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani led a Gulf Cooperation Council delegation to Brussels on July 15 for the third GCC-EU High-Level Forum on Regional Security and Co-operation. Co-chaired by European Union High Representative Kaja Kallas, the forum focused on Iranian attacks against GCC member states and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Al Zayani called for cooperation with the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Germany to ensure Iran complies with international obligations regarding freedom of navigation.
