Revanth Reddy Orders Probe Into BRS Land Scams

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced a sweeping crackdown on land irregularities in Telangana, alleging a land scam totaling 1 lakh crore rupees during the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) administration. During Legislative Assembly sessions on September 16 and 17, 2026, Reddy accused former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and his family of illegally amassing government land, specifically targeting a 700-acre farmhouse in Erravalli where 388 acres are allegedly encroached public land. Reddy ordered a high-powered fact-finding committee and a Special Investigation Team to probe these holdings, promising to distribute recovered land to Dalit families.

Reddy criticized the BRS-era Dharani portal, claiming it was designed to facilitate land plunder and deprive SC, ST, and BC communities of their rights. He specifically accused BRS leaders K.T. Rama Rao and Thanneeru Harish Rao of illegal acquisitions. In addition to the criminal probes, the Chief Minister established a high-level official committee to resolve disputes regarding the Section 22A prohibited lands list, which has affected approximately 3.77 lakh acres of private land.

The government has set a 30-day deadline for the Erravalli investigation and plans to introduce a new policy for urban land regularization. Meanwhile, MLA Naveen Yadav called for a separate probe into Edulnagulapally, alleging that 150 acres of government land were sold via bogus records to multiple individuals, including N.T. Rama Rao Jr.
