India and Bangladesh Discuss Bilateral Ties in Dhaka

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi met with Bangladesh State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir in Dhaka on September 29, 2026. The officials discussed bilateral issues, regional and international matters, and the outcomes of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During the meeting, Kobir reaffirmed Bangladesh's commitment to a "forward-looking and mutually respectful" partnership with India. This engagement is part of a broader diplomatic push by Trivedi, who has held several meetings this month with Bangladeshi officials, including Advisor Mahdi Amin on technology and education, Minister Rashiduzzaman Millat on air connectivity, and Water Resources Minister Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee.

Supporting these efforts, the Ministry of External Affairs of India stated its intent to resolve bilateral issues through existing structured mechanisms. Other Bangladeshi officials echoed this sentiment, with Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni expressing readiness to strengthen ties and outgoing Bangladesh High Commissioner Riaz Hamidullah describing the relationship as "organic" and based on mutual interdependence.
