Sonova Launches AI-Powered Phonak EON Hearing Aid Platform
Sonova launched the Phonak EON hearing-aid platform featuring a proprietary AI chip that reduces energy consumption and device size.
Sonova launched the Phonak EON hearing-aid platform on Monday, August 24, marking its third generation of real-time AI technology. The platform utilizes a proprietary Hypersonic chip and a trained neural network to reduce energy consumption by 37% compared to the previous Sphere generation.
These technical advancements allow the EON Sphere device to be 25% smaller and 20% lighter than its predecessor. The device offers a battery life of up to 38 hours and includes a WindBlock 2.0 feature designed to reduce wind noise by up to 50 decibels.
The rollout began in the United States, with expansions planned for Australia and European markets—including Germany, France, Italy, and Britain—in mid-September, followed by a global release. Sonova positioned the platform as a premium offering to help the company meet medium-term growth targets and increase its market share in Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region.
