T-Mobile CEO Pivots to AI and Home Internet Growth
T-Mobile CEO Srini Gopalan is expanding home internet and AI infrastructure to drive long-term growth following a 25% decline in share price.
CEO Srini Gopalan is implementing a long-term growth strategy for T-Mobile US Inc. focused on artificial intelligence integration and the expansion of home internet services. This pivot follows a 25% decline in the company's share price over the past year. Gopalan intends to capture market share from cable providers by utilizing 5G capacity for fiber offerings and fixed-wireless access.
Beyond consumer internet, Gopalan envisions the T-Mobile network as critical infrastructure for physical AI applications, including delivery drones and automated factories. The company is also diversifying its revenue streams through new ventures in financial services, including a co-branded credit card with Capital One Financial Corp., and advertising, while maintaining a satellite coverage partnership with SpaceX's Starlink.
To support this strategic shift, T-Mobile announced a leadership transition in its finance department. CFO Peter Osvaldik will retire next year, and Jessica Uhl, formerly the CFO of Shell Plc., will join the company in mid-September to facilitate a transition through February 2027.
