Stagecoach West Increases Fares and Simplifies Ticket Structure
Stagecoach West is raising most bus fares and revising its ticket options starting September 1, while the UK government maintains a £3 single fare cap.
Stagecoach West will implement fare increases and a revised ticket structure beginning September 1. The changes follow an annual fare review intended to simplify ticketing options for passengers.
Under the new structure, the operator is renaming DayRider tickets to Day tickets and MegaRider tickets to 7 Day tickets, while discontinuing Xtra tickets. Most fares will rise, with adult single fares under £3 increasing by up to 10p and child singles rising by 20p to 30p. Day tickets will increase by 40p to 60p, and most 7 Day tickets will rise by £1.80 to £2.80.
The company is also withdrawing point-to-point return tickets and online discounts, meaning return travelers must now purchase two single tickets or a Day ticket. To offer a lower-cost option for frequent commuters, Stagecoach West is launching a new 28 Day ticket available exclusively through the Stagecoach Bus App.
Despite these operator-led increases, the Government of the United Kingdom is maintaining the £3 cap on eligible single fares through the end of 2026.
