Nokia Corporation and Taiwan Mobile Co., Ltd. signed a 5G expansion agreement on July 14, 2026, to accelerate the development of AI-native mobile networks across Taiwan. Under the terms of the deal, Nokia will deploy its AirScale portfolio, which includes next-generation baseband and radio solutions and AI-driven software, to modernize existing infrastructure.
The collaboration centers on four strategic priorities: network intelligence, AI infrastructure, energy sustainability, and geostrategy resilience. These upgrades are designed to increase overall network capacity, automate operations through predictive analytics, and reduce power consumption to meet environmental, social, and governance targets.
This partnership aims to support the introduction of new 5G capabilities, such as slicing and RedCap, to accommodate the growing volume of AI-generated traffic. The initiatives are intended to provide premium user experiences and a resilient platform for next-generation applications.
