UAE Allocates US$30 Million for Sudan Humanitarian Emergency

The United Arab Emirates announced US$30 million in emergency aid for civilians in El Obeid, Sudan, bringing its total crisis assistance to US$800 million.

The Government of the United Arab Emirates announced a US$30 million emergency humanitarian response on July 5, 2026, to support civilians in El Obeid, North Kordofan, Sudan. Directed by President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the funding will be delivered through the UAE Aid Agency in cooperation with the United Nations to provide urgent food security, healthcare, shelter, and drinking water.

UAE officials stated that the country has provided approximately US$800 million in total assistance to Sudan since the onset of the crisis. The funding aligns with previous pledges made to support United Nations humanitarian plans for vulnerable communities in the region.

Alongside the financial aid, the UAE called for the protection of civilians, the establishment of safe humanitarian corridors, and strict adherence to international humanitarian law by all conflicting parties. The government further emphasized that there is no military solution to the Sudanese crisis, advocating instead for a civilian-led political process to achieve lasting peace and stability.
