Ukrainian Drone Strike Kills 13 in Nizhnekamsk Oil Hub

A Ukrainian drone attack on the city of Nizhnekamsk in Russia's Tatarstan republic killed 13 people, including a child, and injured nearly 40 others. Radmir Belyayev, the Mayor of Nizhnekamsk, reported that the assault targeted both residential areas and industrial sites within the major oil-refining and petrochemical hub.

While Russian officials did not specify which facilities were hit, NASA satellite imagery from August 10 revealed heat anomalies at the Nizhnekamskneftekhim plant, indicating fires. The city is home to the Nizhnekamskneftekhim producer, as well as the Taneco and TAIF-NK refineries.

Ukrainian authorities have not commented on the specific operation. The strike follows a broader intensification of Ukrainian attacks on Russia's oil-processing infrastructure, with five refineries targeted in the preceding week to disrupt domestic supplies of diesel and gasoline.
