Engineered Land Solutions Refiles Data Center Application in Stokes County

Engineered Land Solutions refiled a rezoning application for Project Delta, a proposed hyperscale data center in Walnut Cove, North Carolina. The submission follows a legal challenge that voided a previous zoning change approved in January. The project now moves forward after the Stokes County Board of Commissioners rejected a planning board recommendation for a temporary moratorium on such developments, despite opposition from local residents.

CEO Drew Nations stated that the project could create hundreds of jobs and generate $40 million in annual tax revenue. Nations claimed these funds could allow county leaders to increase teacher pay, renovate schools, and fund emergency services while simultaneously cutting property taxes.

Assistant County Manager Bryan Miller noted that a final decision will take several months. He explained that the application must undergo staff review and a planning board recommendation before a public hearing is held, asserting that the project will be subject to the same scrutiny as any other application.
