Bangladesh Economy Grows 4.6% in April-June Quarter
Bangladesh's economy grew by 4.60% year-over-year in the April-June quarter, driven by strong gains in the industrial and services sectors.
The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics reported that the national economy grew by 4.60% year-over-year during the April-June quarter. This figure marks a significant acceleration from the 2.05% growth recorded during the same period the previous year.
Industrial activity served as the primary driver of this economic rebound, with the sector expanding by 6.52%, a sharp increase from the 0.92% growth seen a year earlier. The services sector, which accounts for approximately 53% of total economic output, also experienced a rise in growth, moving from 2.26% to 4.28%.
Conversely, the agricultural sector faced a slowdown, with growth dropping to 1.73% from 3.19% in the prior year. The overall data suggests that the gains in industry and services are currently offsetting the continued pressure on agricultural output.
