Imole Campaign Council Seeks State Honours for Election Victims

The Imole Campaign Council, representing Governor Ademola Adeleke, is calling for official state honours and recognition for members of the Accord Party who were killed, injured, abducted, or detained during the governorship campaign in Osun State. In a statement released Thursday, the council alleged that victims were targeted in attacks sponsored by the All Progressives Congress due to their political affiliations.

Specific casualties identified by the council include Kolade Eluyera, killed in Ikire on May 8, 2026; Ezekiel Olapade, murdered in Ilobu on June 21, 2026; and Ajayi Rogba, killed in Ẹsa-Òkè on June 23, 2026. The council argued that while state honours cannot compensate for the sacrifice of victims, such recognition is necessary for those who faced oppression while supporting the governor's re-election.

Additionally, the council accused the Nigeria Police Force of arbitrarily detaining more than 100 campaign coordinators to disrupt grassroots mobilization before the August 15, 2026, election. The organization urged law enforcement to maintain impartiality and professionalism throughout the electoral process.
