Pratt & Whitney Canada Signs MRO Deal With AirBorneo

Pratt & Whitney Canada signed a four-year maintenance, repair, and overhaul agreement with AirBorneo Airways to service PW127M engines on the airline's ATR 72-500 regional turboprop fleet. The contract, which runs through 2030, focuses on managing engine costs and ensuring high dispatch availability for the state-owned airline.

Maintenance work will be conducted primarily at an expanded Pratt & Whitney Canada facility in Singapore. This localized support is intended to benefit AirBorneo's Rural Air Services network in East Malaysia, which provides critical flights to remote communities on intra-Borneo routes.

AirBorneo CEO Megat Ardian Aminuddin stated that having support based in Singapore puts maintenance and repairs close to home and allows aircraft to return to service faster. Anthony Rossi, Vice President of Customer Service at Pratt & Whitney Canada, noted that the company worked closely with the airline to develop a solution that supports high dispatch availability for these critical flights.
