NSW Premier Chris Minns Leads Trade Mission to India

Premier Chris Minns and Treasurer Daniel Mookhey will lead a delegation to India and Nepal to strengthen economic, cultural, and education ties.

New South Wales Premier Chris Minns and Treasurer Daniel Mookhey will lead an official delegation to India from August 31 to September 3, 2026. This mission marks the first overseas visit for Minns in his capacity as Premier and aims to strengthen economic, cultural, and education ties. The delegation will visit New Delhi and Mumbai, focusing on attracting investment and supporting exporters in sectors including clean energy, critical minerals, agrifood, and technology.

The visit specifically builds upon a sister-state relationship established in 2012 between New South Wales and Maharashtra. Trade between the two regions reached AUD 6.87 billion in 2024-25. Minns stated that India is one of the world's fastest-growing major economies and an increasingly important partner for the state.

Following the primary India program, the leaders will split their itineraries. Minns will travel to Kathmandu, Nepal, from September 4 to 5 to strengthen ties with the South Asian regional partner. Simultaneously, Treasurer Mookhey will conduct separate programming in Bengaluru focused on trade, investment, and technology objectives.
