Gautam Adani Announces Organizational Overhaul and $100 Billion Spending Plan

Gautam Adani announced a three-layer organizational restructure and a $100 billion capital spending target to accelerate infrastructure growth and worker welfare across India.

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, announced a comprehensive restructuring of the conglomerate's operating model and a massive growth strategy on May 1, 2026. The overhaul introduces a three-layer organizational structure designed to flatten hierarchies and reduce decision-making time from days to hours. To support this acceleration, the group increased its capital spending target to $100 billion over the next five to six years and plans to add assets worth 2 lakh crore rupees within the current year.

Addressing 400,000 employees on International Labour Day, Adani unveiled a three-pillar strategy focused on decision-making speed, streamlined contractor partnerships, and worker development. This includes the launch of the Adani Training Academy and the "Panchtatva" framework, which prioritizes local hiring and dignified living conditions. The group is constructing air-conditioned housing for 50,000 workers in Mundra and Khavda, alongside a centralized kitchen in Mundra capable of serving 100,000 meals daily.

These initiatives align with projects like the Navi Mumbai International Airport and the Dharavi slum redevelopment. However, the expansion comes as the company manages significant headwinds, including a quarterly loss for Adani Enterprises, technical failures at a $1.2 billion copper plant in Kutch, and an ongoing fraud case brought by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. To stabilize finances, Adani Enterprises approved raising up to 150 billion rupees through share sales, while the group aims to scale local market fundraising to $10 billion over three years.
