Markiplier Becomes Largest Single Shareholder of GoPro

YouTube creator Mark Fischbach acquired an 8.5% stake in GoPro, becoming the company's largest single shareholder amid significant financial instability.

Mark Fischbach, the YouTube creator known as Markiplier, has become the largest single shareholder of GoPro after acquiring an 8.5% stake in the company. Fischbach invested in the camera manufacturer because he believed the stock was undervalued and wanted to support the company's success.

The investment comes as GoPro faces severe financial instability. The company's shares have dropped more than 90% over the last five years, and the manufacturer has expressed substantial doubt regarding its ability to continue as a going concern for the next twelve months.

Fischbach's move into ownership follows a period of persistence in seeking a partnership with the company, which had previously declined to show him new technology at a trade show in Las Vegas. He specifically cited interest in the Mission 1 Pro ILS, a new interchangeable lens cinema camera he believes makes high-end filmmaking more accessible to content creators.
