Ilham Aliyev Inaugurates Rebuilt Villages for Victory Day
President Ilham Aliyev inaugurated rebuilt villages in Zangilan and Jabrayil, facilitating the return of nearly 700 families to liberated territories.
President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva inaugurated the first phase of Jahangirbeyli village in the Zangilan district on November 6. The village, occupied in 1993 and liberated in 2020, was rebuilt from the ground up to include 242 residential houses, a secondary school, a nursery-kindergarten, and a multifunctional service center.
During the event, Aliyev presented keys to new homes for residents relocating to Jahangirbeyli and Soltanli village in the Jabrayil district. He stated that nearly 700 families are returning to these two villages and noted that approximately 100,000 people have returned to the Garabagh and East Zangezur regions over the last six years. Aliyev characterized the return of internally displaced persons as the "greatest dream of every Azerbaijani citizen" and framed the regional revival as a tribute to the martyrs of the 44-day Patriotic War.
These activities coincided with national commemorations for Victory Day on November 8. The Azerbaijan State Theatre Museum named after Jafar Jabbarli hosted a "Our Victory Is Our Pride!" event, which featured artistic performances and video presentations detailing the Great Return process and the resilience of Azerbaijani servicemen.
