Ohio Senate Race Spending Hits $240 Million Ahead of Elections
Ohio's Senate race between Jon Husted and Sherrod Brown reaches $240 million in ad spending as various U.S. jurisdictions prepare for November 3 elections.
Election preparations are underway across several U.S. jurisdictions for the November 3 general and municipal elections. In Tennessee, Cumberland County election commissioners Lisa Phillips and Jim Petty have certified voting machines for early voting starting October 14, while Brown County has scheduled early voting from October 19 through October 30.
In Ohio, the U.S. Senate contest between incumbent Republican Jon Husted and Democratic challenger Sherrod Brown has emerged as a national focal point. Total advertising spending for the race has reached $240 million, with campaigns focusing on the cost of living and the economic impact of AI data centers. Democratic Representative Marcy Kaptur has specifically campaigned against tax incentives for these data centers, arguing that companies are passing utility costs to ratepayers while receiving billions in tax breaks.
Other Ohio congressional races are seeing heightened conflict. Democratic candidate Poindexter has released advertisements targeting Republican Representative Max Miller over allegations of domestic abuse, while Miller has responded with ads regarding Poindexter's history with law enforcement. To counter Republican efforts, the Hope Springs from Field PAC is conducting grassroots canvassing across multiple districts to mobilize unaffiliated and Democratic voters.
