Wollongong Dwelling Sales Rise 1.7 Percent Through May 2026
Wollongong recorded 6,119 dwelling sales in the year ending May 2026, with the $1 million to $2 million price bracket dominating the market.
The Wollongong Significant Urban Area recorded 6,119 dwelling sales in the year ending May 2026, representing a 1.7 percent increase from the previous year and a 3.1 percent rise above the five-year average. Data from Cotality shows the median dwelling value in the Illawarra reached $1,073,555.
The $1 million to $2 million price bracket dominated the market, accounting for 42.7 percent of all sales. While sales between $800,000 and $1 million remained stable, there was a decline in sales in the $600,000 to $800,000 range, a trend attributed to rising home values.
Neil Webster of Stone Real Estate Illawarra noted that higher-end sales are often influenced by buyers relocating from capital cities who may have less spending power in slower markets. Webster expects sales volume to increase during the spring and summer periods, driven by steady interest rates and lifestyle-motivated moves.
