Dexmal Seeks $3 Billion Valuation Amid China Robotics Surge
Robotics startup Dexmal is seeking a $3 billion valuation as Chinese humanoid AI firms accelerate deployment to compete with United States technology.
Chinese robotics startup Dexmal is seeking a valuation of approximately 20 billion yuan ($3 billion) in its current funding round. The company, which specializes in embodied AI for humanoid robots, has previously secured investments from Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. and NIO Capital.
Founder Tang Wenbin stated that while the United States maintains a slight lead in humanoid AI models, Chinese firms are advancing more rapidly. Tang warned that the industry may face consolidation within the next year, asserting that companies must move beyond small proof-of-concept trials to large-scale deployment in factories to remain viable.
This funding push coincides with broader growth in the Chinese robotics sector. Unitree Robotics recently became the first humanoid maker to list in mainland China, raising $904 million during its public debut in Shanghai. Unitree founder Xingxing Wang identified the ability of robots to operate in unfamiliar environments as a primary hurdle for mass market adoption.
