Punjab National Bank Reports Rs 1.37 Lakh Crore Corporate Pipeline

Punjab National Bank Executive Director Amit Kumar Srivastava reports a recovering private capital expenditure and strong growth in the retail, agriculture, and MSME sectors.

Executive Director Amit Kumar Srivastava announced that Punjab National Bank is managing a corporate credit pipeline of approximately Rs 1.37 lakh crore as private sector capital expenditure gradually recovers. Growth is particularly evident in the steel, chemical, petroleum, renewable energy, and infrastructure sectors, alongside emerging fields like data centers and shipbuilding.

While corporate lending increased by 10%, the bank remains focused on the retail, agriculture, and MSME (RAM) segments, which grew by over 17%, 16%, and 20% respectively. Srivastava stated that asset quality remains stable, despite geopolitical tensions in West Asia and concerns regarding unsecured retail loans.

During the June quarter, the bank made a voluntary prudent provision of Rs 390 crore to align with upcoming expected credit loss guidelines. Regarding future monetary policy, Srivastava expects the Reserve Bank of India to maintain current interest rates during its August meeting.
