IndiGo Raises Fees for Infants and Baggage Services

IndiGo, India's largest airline, has increased fees for several domestic add-on and ancillary services. The price hikes target infant travel, excess baggage, and priority services, as the company manages rising operational costs driven by a weakening rupee and higher jet fuel prices.

Charges for infants under two years old have risen to ₹3,000, though some structures offer a lower pre-booking rate of ₹2,250. The fee for unaccompanied minors increased to ₹5,999 for domestic flights and ₹12,999 for international flights. Excess baggage charges rose from ₹700 to ₹800 per kg, while priority check-in and boarding fees increased from ₹450 to ₹650. Travel certificates also saw a price increase to ₹300 from ₹200.

The airline, which holds a dominant domestic market share of 67.4 per cent as of July, reported a standalone net loss of ₹382 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. The infant fee hike alone is expected to affect approximately 10 lakh passengers and generate roughly ₹90 crore in additional revenue.
