easyJet to Hire Hundreds of Cabin Crew Over 50

Budget airline easyJet will launch a recruitment drive in September 2026 to hire hundreds of new cabin crew members for 2027, specifically targeting applicants over the age of 50. The initiative seeks to fill roles across the airline's UK bases and follows a program started in 2022 that significantly increased the presence of older staff.

Since 2022, the number of crew members over 50 has more than doubled, rising by 127% to over 600 employees, while the number of those over 60 nearly quadrupled. Currently, 12 percent of the airline's cabin crew are over 50. Internal data shows that 76% of these employees feel welcome on board, and 53% serve as mentors to younger colleagues.

Michael Brown, director of cabin services, noted that older recruits bring transferable skills and life experience that benefit both customers and colleagues. Employment minister Andrew Western praised the airline for valuing the breadth of experience older workers bring to the workforce. The airline's research indicates that travel and tourism is the most attractive sector for British adults seeking a career change after age 50.
