Akasa Air Negotiates Order for 200 Boeing 737 MAX Jets

Akasa Air is in negotiations to order more than 200 Boeing 737 MAX jets to support its fleet expansion beyond 2032. The Mumbai-based budget carrier, currently India's third-largest airline, expects to reach a final decision on the order in early 2027, with terms likely finalized in the second half of that year.

The airline currently operates 43 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and maintains existing orders for 226 additional planes to be delivered over the next decade. This potential new acquisition aligns with a broader strategic goal to increase capacity by 30% by March 2027.

In addition to the fleet expansion, the company is considering participating in a government emergency credit guarantee scheme.
