Ant International, Visa, and Mastercard Standardize AI Agent Payments

Ant International partnered with Visa and Mastercard to develop a global standard for payments executed by AI agents. The collaboration focuses on a know-your-agent framework designed to link AI agents to valid entities, monitor their behavior, and increase interoperability across diverse payment systems.

The initiative addresses security risks, including AI hallucinations, to maintain consumer trust as AI agents are projected to handle between $3 trillion and $5 trillion of global consumer commerce by 2030. The partnership combines the reach of Visa and Mastercard in developed economies with Ant International's Alipay+ system, which connects over 50 e-wallets in developing markets.

In a related development, Alipay recently launched AI features that allow users to automate recurring orders for services including Didi and Starbucks.
