India Registers 9 Crore MSMEs Through Udyam Digital Platforms
The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises reports that 9 crore enterprises have registered via Udyam platforms, creating over 38 crore jobs across India.
The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises announced that approximately 9 crore micro, small, and medium enterprises have registered through the Udyam Registration Portal and Udyam Assist Platform. These digital initiatives have generated over 38 crore jobs nationwide, supporting various demographics including youth-led start-ups, rural enterprises, and women.
The registration process uses paperless systems to provide enterprises with official identities and formal recognition. The Udyam Assist Platform specifically targets informal micro-enterprises that are not covered by Income Tax or GST, utilizing verified data from authorized partners such as non-banking financial companies and banks to bring these businesses into the formal economy.
Registered enterprises gain access to institutional credit, technology upgrades, skill development, and government procurement programs. Additionally, the framework provides protection against delayed payments and offers support for digitalization to ensure smaller businesses can scale within the formal ecosystem.
