Democrats Betty McCollum and Hillary Scholten Win Reelection

Democratic Representatives Betty McCollum and Hillary Scholten secured reelection to their respective seats in Minnesota and Michigan during Tuesday's congressional contests.

Democratic U.S. Representatives Betty McCollum and Hillary Scholten won reelection to their congressional seats on Tuesday. McCollum maintained her position in Minnesota's 4th Congressional District, defeating Republican challenger Paul Wikstrom in a district that has remained a Democratic stronghold since 1949. Reports on the final margin vary, with one source stating McCollum won with 73% of the vote and another reporting 66%.

In Michigan's Third Congressional District, Scholten secured a third term by defeating Republican Terri DeBoer and Green Party candidate Joe Jock. With 88% of votes counted as of early Wednesday, Scholten held a lead of 188,179 votes, earning 56.9% of the total. While DeBoer won Ottawa County with 55% of the vote, Scholten performed strongly in Kent and Muskegon counties.

Following her victory, Scholten emphasized that her campaign focused on results rather than promises. She stated that the country needs leaders who will do the tough work to lower costs, expand access to care, and curb corruption.
