Voter Groups Send 11 Million Applications Amid Florida Lawsuit
The Voter Participation Center and Center for Voter Information are distributing 11.1 million registration applications to increase turnout ahead of the general election.
The Voter Participation Center and the Center for Voter Information are distributing 11.1 million voter registration applications to eligible but unregistered Americans. This nationwide effort aims to increase voter turnout for the upcoming general election.
In Florida, the organizations are sending more than one million registration applications and 57,160 vote-by-mail applications. These drives occur as the American Civil Liberties Union represents plaintiffs in a federal lawsuit challenging a Florida proof-of-citizenship law. The contested law, scheduled to take effect January 1, 2027, would require voters to provide documentation such as a birth certificate or passport to register or remain on voter rolls.
Tom Lopach, who leads both organizations, stated that the goal is to make it as easy as possible for eligible Americans to vote. The deadline to register for the general election in Florida is October 5, with Election Day set for November 3.
