Coinbase CEO Predicts Bitcoin Will Hit $400,000 by 2030
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong predicts Bitcoin will reach $400,000 by 2030, while 10x Research rejects higher $1 million targets as mathematically impossible.
Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, predicts Bitcoin could reach $400,000 by 2030, which would be a gain of over 400% from its current price of approximately $78,000. In an interview with Fox Business, Armstrong identified the 2028 halving event, the U.S. national debt crisis, and a reduction in macroeconomic headwinds like inflation as primary catalysts. He also cited the potential passage of the CLARITY Act, which would establish a federal regulatory framework and grant the United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission sole jurisdiction over Bitcoin.
Armstrong argued that Bitcoin's scarcity makes it a hedge against the debasement of the U.S. dollar. He described the $400,000 target as realistic, noting that the resulting $7.9 trillion market capitalization would remain significantly lower than that of gold.
Conversely, Markus Thielen, head of research at 10x Research, has rejected more aggressive projections that Bitcoin could reach $1 million per coin by 2030. Thielen called such a target "mathematically impossible," arguing that the required market value increase of $15 trillion to $18.5 trillion is improbably large. While some analysts suggest a money multiplier effect could reduce the necessary cash inflows to $740 billion, Thielen noted that current U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF data suggests sustaining that pace of inflows is unlikely.
