Bloom Energy Reports Record Revenue Amid Stock Price Decline
Bloom Energy reported a 138% surge in third-quarter revenue to $1.2 billion, though high valuations and negative cash flow have pressured its stock price.
Bloom Energy Corporation reported record third-quarter revenue of $1.2 billion, representing a 138% year-over-year increase. The company's operating income rose to $225.4 million from $7.8 million in the previous year, and earnings per share climbed to $0.78 from a loss of $0.10. Driven by power demand from AI data centers and grid constraints, the company raised its full-year revenue guidance to between $4.4 billion and $4.6 billion for the third consecutive quarter.
Despite these financial gains, the company's stock price has fallen more than 40% from its peak. The decline follows a period of extreme valuation; after joining the S&P 500 index on September 21, the stock traded at nearly 400 times trailing earnings, falling to 120 times by October 23. Analysts attribute the volatility to a high valuation and negative free cash flow of $181 million in the third quarter.
Bloom Energy also faces operational headwinds, including near-term margin pressures and new risk disclosures regarding project delays and financing availability. Market sentiment has been further strained by debt issues involving its customer, CoreWeave, and broader concerns regarding AI infrastructure.
