James Faleke Denies Pressuring INEC in Osun Election Dispute

Representative James Faleke denied allegations that he attempted to influence the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to alter the results of the Osun State governorship election. The dispute began when singer David Adeleke, known as Davido, accused Faleke of pressuring the commission to favor the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

Faleke responded on X, asserting that INEC is an independent body that cannot be influenced by him or anyone else. He stated his presence in Osun was solely to support his party's candidate and told Davido to "face your music while we face our politics." Despite the friction, Faleke later congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election and praised the security agencies for maintaining order during the process.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party won the election with 511,067 votes, defeating Oyebamiji, who received 444,815 votes. Following the announcement, the conflict expanded as Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, accused Davido and the Adeleke family of hypocrisy. Sowore alleged the family treats the Osun State treasury like a "family jackpot" while maintaining links to President Bola Tinubu's administration. Davido responded by calling Sowore a "useless man" and blocking him on social media.
