Asaduddin Owaisi Eyes 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections

Asaduddin Owaisi urged supporters to strengthen the AIMIM and advocated for independent Muslim leadership ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi called on supporters to strengthen the party in preparation for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Speaking at the Jalsa-e-Rahmatul-lil-Alameen event in Hyderabad, Owaisi advocated for independent Muslim leadership, arguing that India's 18 crore Muslims are underrepresented in Parliament.

Owaisi expressed a desire to replicate the party's success in Bihar, where it won five seats, within Uttar Pradesh. He named Shaukat Ali, the party's Uttar Pradesh state president, as the candidate for the Matera Assembly constituency.

Regarding strategic partnerships, Owaisi stated that AIMIM is open to forming alliances to prevent the Bharatiya Janata Party from returning to power in Uttar Pradesh, provided the party is treated with respect and granted equal status. While the party previously allied with Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, current speculation points toward potential partnerships with the Bahujan Samaj Party or the INDIA bloc.
