Elon Musk and America PAC Settle Voter Giveaway Lawsuits
Elon Musk and America PAC agreed to settle two class-action lawsuits alleging they defrauded voters with a lottery-style giveaway before the 2024 election.
Elon Musk and his America PAC political action committee agreed on Thursday to settle two proposed class-action lawsuits concerning a lottery-style giveaway conducted prior to the 2024 US election. The lawsuits, filed by Arizona residents in a federal court in Austin, Texas, alleged that Musk and the PAC defrauded voters across seven swing states.
The plaintiffs claimed the defendants promised $1 million daily payments to randomly selected individuals who signed a petition supporting the US Constitution. While Musk and America PAC denied the allegations of fraud, they informed the judge that settlements had been reached. The specific terms of these agreements were not disclosed in the court filings.
Musk originally established America PAC to support the presidential campaign of Donald Trump. The legal challenge focused on whether the giveaway constituted an illegal or fraudulent inducement for voters to sign the petition.
