Sonos to Launch Ace Ultra Headphones and AI Strategy
Sonos Inc. will launch the Ace Ultra premium headphones in September alongside a new strategic shift toward conversational AI and predictive intelligence.
A Federal Communications Commission filing on August 11, 2026, revealed that Sonos Inc. is preparing to launch the Sonos Ace Ultra, a premium successor to its first-generation wireless headphones. The new headset will be available in up to five colors and is expected to support voice commands, a feature that was absent from the original 2024 model.
Chief Executive Officer Tom Conrad has scheduled a product launch for September to introduce the device and a broader strategic shift toward artificial intelligence. Conrad intends to integrate conversational computing and predictive intelligence into the company's whole-home audio systems, positioning the hardware as a platform for both in-house and third-party AI models.
This strategic pivot follows a period of instability for the company, which included a disastrous mobile-app update in 2024 and recent staff reductions within the design and product management departments.
