UK and Greece Issue State Pension and Retroactive Payments
The UK Department for Work and Pensions and Greece's e-EFKA administration have issued state pension payments and retroactive disbursements to pensioners in both nations.
Government agencies in Greece and the United Kingdom issued a series of pension payments and retroactive disbursements on July 10, 2026. In Greece, the e-EFKA administration began disbursing €2,434,328.64 to 363 former public sector pensioners. These payments cover the period from January 1, 2019, and follow rulings issued by the Court of Audit of Greece.
Simultaneously, the United Kingdom's Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) focused on Pension Credit accessibility and scheduling. The DWP urged eligible older people to claim Pension Credit, estimating that 760,000 entitled pensioners have not yet applied. The agency noted that successful claims can be backdated for up to three months.
Due to the calendar alignment of July 2026 containing five Thursdays, a specific group of UK state pensioners will receive two payments this month. This applies to claimants whose National Insurance numbers end in digits between 60 and 79, as the State Pension is typically distributed every four weeks based on these numbers.
