Blackstone Limits BCRED Redemptions to 5 Percent

Blackstone Inc. capped withdrawals from its $77 billion private credit fund after investors sought to redeem 10 percent of shares.

Blackstone Inc. limited redemptions from its Blackstone Private Credit Fund (BCRED) to 5 percent after investors attempted to withdraw 10 percent of the fund's shares. This action marks the second consecutive quarter that the $77 billion fund, the largest of its kind, has capped withdrawals.

In a letter to shareholders, the fund reported that investors requesting redemptions over the last two quarters received approximately 75 percent of their money within 90 days. The firm maintains that BCRED remains well capitalized, stating that loan repayments and inflows have outpaced shares repurchased.

The redemption limits occur amid wider investor anxiety regarding underwriting standards and exposure to legacy software businesses in the private credit market. While fundraising for non-traded business development companies has dropped 82 percent this year, Blackstone reported strong institutional demand. The firm deployed over $6 billion in the first half of 2026 into the life sciences, aerospace, and AI sectors.
