SK Hynix Leads HBM Market as Micron Surpasses Samsung

SK Hynix maintains a dominant lead in high bandwidth memory for AI accelerators, while Micron Technology captures second place by surpassing Samsung Electronics.

SK Hynix Inc. leads the high bandwidth memory (HBM) market as of early 2026, holding a market share in the high 50% range. The company maintains a competitive advantage and superior pricing power through its ability to qualify new HBM generations with Nvidia Corporation, though its total market share has declined from approximately two-thirds a year prior.

Micron Technology has emerged as the primary challenger, capturing roughly 20% of the HBM market and surpassing Samsung Electronics for second place. This shift highlights a changing competitive landscape among the top memory chip manufacturers supplying AI accelerators.

Beyond HBM, SanDisk Corporation is benefiting from the AI boom within the NAND flash storage market. Increased demand for high-capacity drives in AI servers has driven higher pricing for the company's enterprise products, although the NAND sector remains more commoditized than the specialized HBM market.
