India and Bangladesh Set 57th Border Director General Talks
India and Bangladesh will hold high-level border security talks in New Delhi from June 8 to 11 to address illegal migration and cross-border crime.
The Border Security Force of India will host the 57th Director General-level Border Coordination Conference in New Delhi from June 8 to 11, 2026. The four-day meeting, held at the BSF Force Headquarters, will be led by BSF Director General Praveen Kumar and Border Guard Bangladesh Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui. This marks the first high-level border dialogue since the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, took power in February 2026.
Delegations will address a wide range of security issues, including border fencing, drone intrusions, and the infiltration of criminals. India intends to focus on preventing assaults on BSF personnel and Indian civilians, as well as coordinating operations against Indian Insurgent Groups operating within Bangladesh. These efforts align with the Indian government's stated detect, delete and deport policy against illegal infiltration. Conversely, Bangladesh is expected to raise concerns regarding the alleged killing of its nationals by the BSF.
A 15-member Bangladeshi delegation will attend, including representatives from the Prime Minister's Office and the ministries of Home Affairs, Foreign Affairs, and Shipping. The talks aim to improve coordination through Confidence Building Measures and review border infrastructure projects. The conference will conclude on June 11 with the signing of a joint record of discussions.
