Analysts Project 2027 Social Security COLA Increase

Initial estimates for the 2027 Social Security cost-of-living adjustment suggest a larger increase than the 2.8% adjustment provided earlier this year. The Social Security Administration is expected to announce the official figure on October 14, after the release of September inflation data.

Forecasts for the adjustment have shifted as inflation cools. Independent analyst Mary Johnson revised her projection down from 4.7% to 3.4%, while the Senior Citizens League projects a 3.6% increase. The final determination depends on inflation data from July, August, and September, with July figures already available.
