Next PLC Upgrades Annual Profit Forecast to £1.24 Billion

Next PLC raised its full-year pre-tax profit outlook to £1.24 billion following strong second-quarter sales and a surge in international online shopping.

Next PLC upgraded its full-year pre-tax profit outlook to £1.24 billion, marking a £25 million increase over previous estimates and a 7.3% rise compared to the prior year. This second upgrade of the financial year follows a second quarter where total full-price sales grew 9.2% in the 13 weeks ending August 1, significantly exceeding the 4% growth forecast.

Company leadership attributed the surge to warmer weather in the United Kingdom, increased marketing spend, and a release of pent-up demand across the Middle East and Northern Europe. While UK sales grew 2.8% via online channels, international online sales saw a year-on-year increase of 37%.

Chief Executive Lord Simon Wolfson implemented price hikes of up to 8% in certain overseas markets to mitigate financial disruptions caused by the war in Iran and instability in the Strait of Hormuz.
