OpenAI Launches Dots AI Agent for Corporate Automation

OpenAI introduced Dots, an AI agent designed to automate complex multi-step corporate tasks before a planned wider release to ChatGPT users.

OpenAI has launched Dots, a new AI agent designed to automate complex, multi-step digital tasks. During a training session in San Francisco, product lead Alexander Embiricos stated that the company is initially deploying the tool within corporate technology environments to maintain control and ensure safety before a broader public release.

The agent can execute sophisticated workflows, such as researching verified data to construct websites or navigating corporate software using two-factor authentication to automate the publishing of newsletters. These capabilities allow the agent to interact with software in ways that mimic human operation.

Despite the technical capabilities, the rollout faces obstacles in enterprise settings. Corporate IT restrictions, including disabled external sharing and blocked update endpoints, have hindered the deployment of the agent. OpenAI plans to integrate these agent capabilities into ChatGPT for all users once the technology is proven to operate safely in the digital world.
