Reform UK and Labour Split Support Among Union Members

Reform UK and the Labour Party are now evenly split at 28% support among trade union members, according to a new JL Partners poll.

A poll by JL Partners shows that support among trade union members is now evenly split between the Labour Party and Reform UK, with both parties holding 28% support. This represents a 20 percentage point decline for Labour since the 2024 election, with the shift most pronounced in the GMB and Unite unions.

Union leaders attribute the decline to Labour's decisions to cut disability benefits and winter fuel payments. Sharon Graham of Unite described the results as damning, suggesting the working class has abandoned the party. Meanwhile, the Green Party has increased its support among union members from 5% to 12% over the last two years.

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage claimed his party has replaced Labour as the representative of the patriotic working class. However, GMB general secretary Gary Smith warned that Reform UK intends to target the pensions of low-paid workers and cancel essential union rights, urging Labour to demonstrate it can still support working-class interests.
