McDonald's Appoints Skye Anderson President of U.S. Business

McDonald's appointed company veteran Skye Anderson as the president of its U.S. business, effective August 4, 2026. Anderson, who previously served as the chief operating officer for McDonald's USA and led Global Business Services, succeeds Joe Erlinger. Erlinger will remain with the company as an advisor until early 2027.

The leadership change follows a second-quarter report showing a profit of $2.36 billion and earnings per share of $3.32. While global same-store sales rose 1.3%, U.S. same-store sales grew by only 0.8%, a decline from the 2.5% increase seen the previous year. The company attributed the domestic slump to high gasoline prices, cautious consumer spending, and anxiety stemming from the U.S. conflict with Iran.

To address declining restaurant traffic and attract cost-conscious diners, the company introduced a simplified McValue menu in April with items priced at $3 or less. This transition is part of a broader growth strategy launched in June 2026 that focuses on menu innovation and new restaurant designs to maintain competitiveness against U.S. rivals.
